Lolita x 2 - sweet and high heels
Photobucket

Since it's summer here in New Zealand, wearing full lolita is just not going to happen for me. In addition, I've really come to realise that while I love the look of sweet lolita with all its ruffles and blouses and Peter-pan collars, I feel like it's time for me to go in a slightly more adult direction - I really prefer to wear slightly 50s-style, awesomely printed dresses with belts, cardigans and a pair of killer heels. This has led to some interesting lolita coordinations - I love my JSKs too much to give them up, so wearing them in a less-common to lolita styling is a lot of fun.

This was an outfit I wore a few days ago on my way to get my hair cut. See that overgrown fringe? Yeah, now it's a lot neater - I'm SO pleased to get it cut, it needed it badly. I initially planned to wear black stockings and a black belt, but given that it was about two hundred degrees outside, black was not a good option. These heels kill my feet, but I adore them nevertheless - I have another pair in electric blue.

Outfit rundown:
Icecream JSK: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Yellow cardigan: offbrand (Glassons from a few seasons ago, for NZ lolitas)
White stockings: offbrand
Plastic headband: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Pink heels: offbrand (Hannahs)
White belt: vintage
Pink metal beads: offbrand random accessory store (either Bling or Equip, I can't remember)

See? Nice neat fringe is so much better. This was an outfit I put together to go out for lunch, run a few errands and visit the fabric store. I just bought these slingback wedges, and although they give me blisters, I adore them. I'm a shoe-holic - I never used to wear high heels, and now the majority of my collection are heading that way (though tea party shoes also hold a special place in my wardrobe.)

Outfit rundown:
Sleeping Beauty JSK: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Cream cutsew: offbrand (Portmans - it's actually a cardigan worn underneath the dress)
Black belt: offbrand (Glassons)
Slingback wedges: offbrand (Banks shoes)
Tote: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Pearl headband and corsage: Baby the Stars Shine Bright and offbrand (I didn't have a cream rose corsage but I really thought it would work with this outfit, so I clipped one of the shoe clips from my BtSSB Petite Doll shoes to a pearl headband. Works well enough, but I'd like to make or buy a real corsage for the future.)
Black metal beads: offbrand (they came with the pink ones in the other outfit)
Cream glass pearls: vintage (it's an incredibly long strand which I adore)

I LOVE your bangs. This is the style I keep trying to tell my stylist I want. I finally have a good pic of what I want, thanks! Love your outfits, too! (It's snowing here btw. argh)

Thanks! I used to have the classic hime cut, which looked like this when my hair was curled, but I got sick of it a couple of years ago so I grew them out and my hairdresser cut in soft shaping around my face instead. I think it's a lot nicer and more versatile :)

I like to know details of where they came from in case I need to find them on ebay in the future :) But thank you!

:( I bought them over a year ago and it's a NZ-only store so unfortunately they're no longer available.

Good god I love that second outfit, I would wear that every day. I really want that Baby JSK now. I think this is a very cute way to wear Lolita, I think going bare legged looks cutest on most girls, all those socks and stockings can be a hassle.

Love that belt! I love in general when people pair big belts like that with JSKs. It adds a touch of retro IMO. I really need to invest in such a belt! @__@;
